"The priorities are student-athlete well-being and protection of the collegiate model that we all know and feel viscerally about, but that which we have to convert into language and actions that are meaningful to a public that doesn’t quite understand it – or if they do, they don’t always believe us. We have to fix that. The stronger the link is between our athletics programs and our academic programs – the more those athletics experiences are incorporated into the academic experiences – then we don’t have to talk about athletics and academics as separate entities but as part of the whole academic experience.” -President Emmert

"It starts with Humanics, the age-old Greek ideal of the balanced individual. We believe, as did the ancient Greeks, that a person’s emotional, intellectual and physical lives are interconnected. The Humanics philosophy calls for the education of the whole person—in spirit, mind, and body —for leadership in service to humanity." -The Humanics Philosophy

The above statement (quoted by the President of the NCAA) and the statement below (philosophy created at Springfield College) have a mutual relationship. They both want to invest in every student, athlete and person to bring out the true potential and leadership in each and every individual. Without even knowing it, the student atheltes that make up the NCAA entertain this lifestyle on the playing field. It is clearly evident to it's viewers. Athletes are students too which makes the entertainment that they provide have that much of a greater impact on their fans and supporters. The highley coveted Humanics Philosphy much like the mission of the NCAA was created in the City of Springfield and it has strengthened ever since. This City holds the values and aims of this philosophy and it is something the public has grown to be very comfortable with. Having the City of Springfield host this event will provide a very unique but more importantly a community that understand what the NCAA is attempting to gain from the Host City they choose.
